What is the GH-600 exam format?

GH-600 is a proctored exam delivered through Pearson VUE with a 120-minute appointment, offered in English, and a passing score of 700 out of 1000. The credential is valid for 730 days. No fixed question count is published, and candidate reports describe several item types, including drag and drop, drop-down selections, and code fill-in alongside multiple choice.

Who runs the GitHub certifications?

The GitHub certification programme is maintained by GitHub, and the exams are delivered by Microsoft through Pearson VUE with the exam guides published on Microsoft Learn. GH-600 Developing in Agentic AI Systems is the newest of them, introduced in 2026 for the Agentic AI Developer credential.

Do I need another GitHub certification first?

No. There is no formal prerequisite certification for GH-600. It is an intermediate, hands-on exam, so practical experience with GitHub workflows and with coding agents matters far more than holding an earlier credential.

GH-600 is about operating agents responsibly rather than building models. Its six domains cover:

Managing memory, state and execution, from memory strategy and expiry to resuming work without drift.
Performing evaluation, error analysis and tuning from logs, plans, traces and workflow artifacts.
Orchestrating multi-agent coordination, including isolation, conflict resolution, recovery and agent lifecycle.
Implementing guardrails and accountability: autonomy levels, least privilege, and human-in-the-loop where it actually reduces risk.
